To fully address that, we need to start at verse 21. "It is not those who say to me, 'Lord, Lord,' who will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven." John 6:40 says "Yes, it is my Father's will that whoever sees the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and that I shall raise him up on the last day." John 6:44 "No one can come to me unless he is drawn by the Father who sent me, and I will raise him up at the last day."(NOTE, when The Son says things twice he is saying it's a double truth.. It's bad enough we let things distract us from Him, but He humbles Himself enough in the understanding of that in us, to repeat Himself. "I will raise him up on the last day x2" Awesomeness!) Rev 1:18 "I was dead and now I am to live for ever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and of the the underworld". How did He get the keys? Hebrews 2:14-15 says "Since all the children share the same blood and flesh, he too shared equally in it, so that by his death he could take away all the power of the devil, who had power over death, and set free all those who had been held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death." (His crucifixion). Final judgement is the Lords alone. Verse 21 is a statement of Yahweh's Power. Psalms 15:1-5 tells exactly who is allowed in Yahweh's temple. The spiritually radical/aggressive/combative/assertive and the victorious/triumphant/glorious are who are allowed in His presence. It not enough to just uplift The Son in certain places and times. He should be the reasoning behind EVERY word we speak! (John 13:13 "You call me Master and Lord, and rightly; so I am."). What if just tongue wagging sufficed?!? A formality reserved for people who wish to be honored, and honored by the show of their "knowledge and wisdom". You know everyone wants to sound profound these days LOL. Flattery and acclamation are signs of consideration and courtesy. They are usually returned in kind. Accolades of peers are not a real service payment. Are hearts are also known to Him when we pray. Being confident while calling on the Lords name is placing ourSELVES in the position of a god. The Lord alone will know the strength of their petitions. If inside we feel 'a' but what comes out of our mouths is 'b' we sound exactly as 1 Corinthians 13:1-2 describes!("If I have all the eloquence of men or of angels, but speak without love, I am simply a gong booming or a cymbal clashing. If I have the gift of prophecy, understand all the mysteries there are, and knowing everything, and if I have faith in all its fullness, to move mountains, but without love, then I am nothing at all") He says that NOT so that we hold back from calling on Jesus/Yahweh/The Son/Yeshua, but so that we don't just REST on the use of it. When I said that accolades and flattery were consideration and courtesy from peers WHAT I MEANT TO SAY WAS tongue wagging for the benefit of others REEKS of self righteous piety and pride, which means we are uplifting OURSELVES to a position of "godliness" and the words are said withOUT power. It is necessary to do the will of The Son because THAT is the will of The Father(Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth ; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." VERY specific words. Not I am not shamed BY the gospel, but not ashamed OF it. To misuse the Lords name is to do as those who mocked Him the day of His crucifixion.(Matt 27:29/John 19:3). 22. "When the day comes many will say to me 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, caste out demons in Your name, work many miracles in Your name?" Balaam prophesied in The Father's name and was greatly disappointed(Deuteronomy 23:5). Caiaphas prophesy fell short as well (John 11:45-57). Saul prophesied and was totally going against the will of The Most High and chasing his own desires when he was trying to kill David. God had made David untouchable as long as he was moving under the will of The Father. Judas caste demons out and worked miracles in His name, and he walked himself right into utter destruction!!! All three of those examples used the Lords name for their OWN purpose, not THE purpose. They enjoyed the position and status it got them. Doing ANYTHING to seem more righteous to their PEERS 0_o Jeremiah 48:13 "Moab will blush for Chemosh then, as the House of Israel blushed for Bethel(The sanctuary of the Northern Kingdom, a rival to Jerusalem) in whom they put their trust." Zephaniah 3:11 "When that day comes you need feel no shame for all the misdeeds you have committed against me, for I will remove your proud boasters form you midst; and you will cease to strut on my holy mountain." Jeremiah 7:4"Put no trust in delusive words like these: This is the sanctuary of Yahweh, the sanctuary of Yahweh, The sanctuary of Yahweh!"The gifts that we have been blessed with can make a man "worthy" by MANS view, but GOD accepts devotion and sanctification. A believer will reach heaven under grace without working miracles,.. Miracles along don't align us under His grace. When these people were doing these works, their heart was on themselves! Check out Simon Magus(or Simon, the magician) in Acts 8:18! He offers MONEY for the Power of The MOST High!!!!!(Which is why YES, I do agree with once saved always saved. The true question would be was that person ever saved) SMH 23. "Then I shall tell them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, you evil men!" On the day of final judgement, when EVERY man's heart is laid bare for the Lord to assess(1 Corinthians 14:25), He will know the force of their petition. Saying and doing are two different things. As our advocate and final judge, they will see the error in their ways and beg for The Son to hold off on their judgement, but it will be in vain. The law maker (vs 21) overrules the plea (vs 23) PUBLICLY. The judgement passed over workers of iniquities and sinning behind a believers mask will catch it THE WORST. To have pretense means that we value the worth our peers place on our lives more so than the love The Son as shown. It is to, in our minds( because Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places") provide facade for the sake of supporting their vain hopes, by staying unblemished and blameless in the sights of peers. If the Lord knows them that re His, but is saying " I never knew you", it alludes that if He had ever owned them, and loved them, he would familiar with them. But He ALWAYS knew them for the hypocrites they were! Remember the Messiah called sinners TO Him(Matt 9:13)
Hosea 4:6 speaks of how people have forgotten the Lord, and The Creator. Ignoring and shunning His teachings. if the people fail to pass His beautiful AWESOMENESS to their children, even if they tell them to just REMEMBER The Creator, He will not shine on them either.
2 Corinthians 3:6 "He is the One who has given us the qualifications to be the administrators of this new covenant, which is not a covenant of letters but of the Spirit: the written letters bring death but the Spirit gives life."
